SWEEPING VIEWS

Sweeping Views was born from a love of all things experimental, ambient, and altogether out-there. Originally from CT, now living in Philadelphia, he has toured internationally as a DJ bringing together many flavors from many different genres of music.

JEMP Radio has given him the freedom to not only conduct “The Ambient Hour,” but also produce “Adolescent Subtle Sounds.”

KEVIN CASSELS

Kevin Cassels, host of Pure Saturation (featuring the music of Umphrey’s McGee), is probably best known as the author of the Pharmer’s Almanac 6: The Unofficial Guide to Phish, the 524-page Phan Bible that was released in 2000 following in the steps of founder Andy Bernstein.

He has also played drums in a number of diverse bands over the years, namely Mother Vinegar featuring Karl Engelmann, and has performed on stage/in the studio with Umphrey’s McGee, Fishbone, Big Boi, Raq, Jennifer Hartswick, Peter Alpfebaum, and members of the Disco Biscuits, Trey Anastasio Band, Alice in Chains, 24-7 Spyz & others.

His first Grateful Dead and Phish shows both took place in March 1992. Born in NYC and raised in Atlanta, Kevin has called Asheville, NC, home for 20 years, where he resides with his children Sophie, Anthony & Isaac.

KARL ENGELMANN

Karl Engelmann is a culinary chef and multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who has authored hundreds of original songs performed by his own bands and other artists, especially Umphrey’s McGee, who have covered or collaborated on at least ten of Engelmann’s songs.

In 1997, he co-founded Ali Baba’s Tahini with future Umphrey’s guitarist Jake Cinninger and drummer Steve Krojenewski. The group reunites every few years and has released five studio albums.

From 2004–2007, Karl fronted Mother Vinegar with his ‘Pure Saturation’ co-host Kevin Cassels on drums, releasing two studio albums. He has also performed in reggae group the Natty Lovejoys and has released several solo albums over the last three decades. He has three children and owns the successful Epic Catering in Hayesville, NC, where he resides with his wife and family.

Eric “Jamzilla”

Originally from Connecticut and now living in Colorado, Jamzilla is a new voice on the airwaves; blending the old wonder of mountain life with the vibrant history of jam band music. The name “Jamzilla” is a playful tribute to his love for both jam bands and Godzilla movies-a quirky combination that just stuck around.

Introduced to a wide variety of music at a young age, Eric found a deep connection with the Grateful Dead at a pivotal time, leading him to explore the expansive world of jam and its community. This opened him up to new influences and the great connectivity music itself shares. His belief in the power of music to inspire and unite people, as was his experience, is at the heart of his approach to radio.

Humbly acknowledging that he is still learning with each show, Eric embraces the creative freedom the platform offers. One piece of advice from his mentor that continues to guide him is: “You never stop learning.”

Currently, Eric curates and hosts The Roots as part of Adolescent Subtle Sounds! A show that primarily shines a spotlight on The String Cheese Incident as well as a series of other artists. With every broadcast he continues to discover, grow, and share the music that means so much to him with listeners.

Think Tank Dubs

Long time tDB fan, nine-nine tour head and dub selector, Think Tank Dubs has created his own niche in the jam scene. Known for his refined taste and knowledgeable jam selections , TTD’s sets seamlessly weave mix dub, electronica, hip-hop and deep cut Disco Biscuit jams. His monthly livestream sets, The Basement Sessions, are often featured on “Adolescent Subtle Sounds”.

Think Tank Dubs and Sweeping Views also produce two unique shows for JEMP Radio specifically dedicated to the music of The Disco Biscuits, “Über Glue” and “Spraypaint Victory”.

“Über Glue” is an homage to the greatness of past tDB tours. The fan community is given a sample size (i.e. June 2009, Fall Tour 2007) and then invited to weigh in through conversations across various platforms with their “best of” jams which TTD then mixes into fantasy, continuous mix sets.

“Spraypaint Victory” is when the band is currently playing too hot to ignore and TTD and Sweeping Views halt their work on “Über Glue” and give love to the current tour.
